'Black Panther' Star Chadwick Boseman Dies at 43

On August 29, 2020, we lost yet another cultural icon: Chadwick Boseman. The actor, best known for his role as King T’Challa on Marvel’s “Black Panther” died at 43 after a 4-year-long battle with colon cancer. Throughout his career, Boseman played Black legends like James Brown, Thurgood Marshall and Jackie Robinson. He died at home with his wife and family.
Boseman was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016, and it progressed to stage four. "A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy," the post uploaded to his social media accounts said.
Born in South Carolina, Boseman went on to attend Howard University. Major League Baseball tweeted that "his transcendent performance in '42, the movie where he played Jackie Robinson,' will stand the test of time and serve as a powerful vehicle to tell Jackie's story to audiences for generations to come."
