Sorry, You Can't Un-Update The Horrendous Snapchat Update

By: Kayla Pasacreta

If you're an avid Snapchat user like me (which, I know you are), you were probably shocked, disgusted, and horrified by last week's Snapchat update that merged the chat and story page and forced the Discover page on you. Not to be dramatic, but it is literally the worst update ever. It's the biggest change Snapchat has orchestrated since its birth in 2011, and Snapchat users everywhere are disappointed. Over 600,000 Snapchat users have signed a petition for Snapchat to "remove the new update."

Snapchat users have been flooding the app with negative reviews on the App store. User @ThatsJustHowItIs perfectly described everyone's issues with the new update,

I liked having everyone’s stories and my messages in a separate place, and the best friends/streaks emojis are so small now, I can almost guarantee I’ll lose all my streaks because I won’t be able to tell where they are.

Still, Snapchat appears to be relatively unbothered, stating, "Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.”

Why would Snapchat change something that was perfect?!!

Snapchat is trying their hardest to draw you to their "Discovery" page, a clever business tactic that draws money both to Snapchat and their media partners. Users can now view the stories of celebrities and social media influencers that they are not personally prescribed to. YouTuber Jayde Pierce was stunned that the update helped her snag a significant number of extra viewers to her story.

So, I'm stuck with this ugly sh**t?!

Yes! There have been tweets circulating that say if you delete the app, turn your auto-updates off, and change your Sanpchat password your phone will never to the "old Snapchat" but this trick only works briefly before the app reverts back to its new layout.

Raise your hand if you feel personally attacked by the new Snapchat update.
