Virgil Abloh is the newest member of the Louis Vuitton team. This morning, the luxury brand announced Abloh will be the next menswear artistic director. This news is major, making Abloh Louis Vuitton's first ever black artistic director, and proof that the come-up is real.

Abloh's own Milan-based clothing line, OffWhite, has quickly made a name for itself in the fashion industry. Michael Burke, the chief executive of Louis Vuitton, stated, "Virgil is incredibly good at creating bridges between the classic and the zeitgeist of the moment,” Abloh's fashion is in the now, with fashion that sheds light on the culture while maintaining a cool functionality. According to the New York Times, Louis Vuitton is hopeful Abloh will make the brand more appealing to millennials, "It also presumably made a compelling case that Mr. Abloh could be the man to make Louis Vuitton men’s wear more relevant — and more visible — to the millennial generation."
