Democrat Doug Jones Wins Alabama Senate Election, Opponent Roy Moore Refuses To Concede

By: Kayla Pasacreta

Doug Jones has won the Alabama Senate seat after a long, brutal election. The election gained national attention when multiple reports accusing Republican candidate Roy Moore of actively pursuing teenage women as an adult surfaced. Jones will be the first Democrat since 1990 to hold a Democratic Senate seat.

Much like the election cycle, the election results have come with messiness. Roy Moore is refusing to back down and concede, although he is trailing by 1.5% and losing by 20,000 votes.

Surprisingly, Donald Trump took to Twitter to congratulate Jones on his win,

Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!
