Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) offered some brutal words to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjsen Nielsen. Nielsen, who was present during Thursday's White House immigration roundtable hearing, insisted she did not remember hearing Donald Trump refer to African countries as "shithole countries", but said she did remember hearing a lot of profanity during the meeting. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Lindsey Graham (D-NC), both confirmed the President did in fact use that language.

Cory Booker slammed Nielsen for her amnesia about the comments, and passionately expressed,

“When Dick Durbin called me I had tears of rage when I heard about his experience in this meeting, and for you not to feel that hurt and that pain and to dismiss some of the questions of my colleagues … when tens of millions of Americas are hurting right now because of what they’re worried about what happened in the White House, that’s unacceptable to me!

Booker continued to tell Nielsen her silence is complicit with bigotry, and that he is "seething with anger" over Trump's comments:

“When ignorance and bigotry is allied with power, it is a dangerous force in our country...your silence and your amnesia is complicity. ”
